Pib's eyes flick about the room, surveying.
It's perfectly neat, Gerard wants to say. And it is: everything's perfectly tidy. There's no blanket tossed on the couch, no half empty mug, no high heels scattered in the doorway.
It's all perfectly neat. He'd redecorated a couple months ago, spent a day pushing couches and coffee tables around and leaving more than a few dents in the floor. He'd even gotten some faux flowers (to fool him into believing something in this apartment was alive).
"What're you up to today?" Pib asks, raising an eyebrow. Gerard suddenly remembers just how terrifying his agent can be.
"... nothing much." He admits.
"Good." Pib says. "'Cause you have an audition over Zoom in an hour."--
Or, the one where Elody and Gerard met on a sitcom, became somewhat of a celebrity couple, and, sure, they're separated, but a public announcement would be a whole thing, and wouldn't it just be better to keep pretending until they can find the right time to tell everyone?
Or, the one where Elody and Gerard communicate so poorly the newly-divorcees both end up auditioning for the same new TV series and have to play opposite each other as romantic leads.

Summary
When the doorbell rings, Gerard's on his fourth attempt at frosting a rose.
He blinks when he opens the door. Unable to do anything but stand there, silent.
Elody has her hair up in a messy bun. Her heel taps out a pattern (impatiently? anxiously?) and she stares at him.
Confused, he frowns, and she gestures at his outfit with a raised eyebrow. It's then Gerard remembers he's wearing the t-shirt Pinocchio picked out for him as a joke -- a bright pink one, that says in large cursive letters below a cartoon of a smiling frog: "Toadally Kissable."
Elody tries and fails to hold back a smile. "Do you mind if I come in? To talk. I'll be quick."
Gerard doesn't know what to think, much less what to say.
Thankfully, the fire alarm goes off before he has a chance.Gerard and Elody learn to be friends, again. Featuring a baked good every chapter, a runaway bride, and a glassy catastrophe.
