“Not cologne,” Ilya says, shaking his head. He taps the label on the bottle. “Read.”
“Ilya’s Magical Mind Control Potion…” Shane reads obediently, then looks up to meet his eyes. “Ilya, what the fuck is this?”
“Is a gift for you,” Ilya explains proudly, “from Etsy.”
Shane wrinkles his nose adorably. “I hope you didn’t pay too much for it.”
“It was… a little expensive,” Ilya admits, shrugging. “We’re rich. Seller promises 100% satisfaction. I pay more for the pretty label and ribbon.”

“Hollander? You are still here?” Rozanov called, breaking the TV static silence filling Shane’s head. He blinked.
“Uh. Yeah, just leaving,” he answered, surprised by how steady his voice sounded. Good, that was good. He knew he couldn’t show Rozanov any weakness if he wanted to keep coming back.
But did he want to come back if it made him feel like this?
“Door is too heavy? Or I fuck you too good, you cannot move legs,” came Rozanov’s taunting response. Shane could practically see the tilted smirk on his face, cigarette smoke wafting around his freshly-showered curls.

In a universe in which Shane is conceived while his parents are in college much stays the same, but much changes too:
David Hollander is a professional level goalie, but gives up that dream to raise Shane, instead becoming the Centaurs’ emergency backup goalie.
Shane is diagnosed with autism, trusts Ilya with his diagnosis, and they get together sooner.

Summary
So to see him lose his demeanor and act like he had actual feelings? Ilya would pay hundreds of money just to see that sight, and a hundred more to be the reason why Shane snapped.
Hence why he gets such a kick out of pushing Shane’s buttons—he gets to do it so easily because they’re roommates, and it’s all for free.
But Ilya’s not laughing anymore, no.
Not when those buttons have suddenly become jammed.
Shane seems to have had enough of his roommate's messy lifestyle. Ilya, the roommate, desperately tries to show him he can change.
