Summary
The whole thing's a mistake, really.
Of course they didn't mean to have the baby. Of course Ash didn't mean for it to be Shorter's, and Shorter hadn't been trying to knock him up, neither. Of course Ash hadn't meant to keep it. Just turned out that way.
Now with a daughter, Shorter and Ash've gotta find a way to make ends meets. More bad choices left the pair with not too many options. Ash took to hookin' again, while Shorter starts pushin' this new drug, Banana Fish. Of course he didn't mean to get hooked on it.
Was it stupid to think that things could've started lookin' up for the two of them? Maybe.
'Cuz they both know it's only down from here.Bookmarked by Quickievivi

Summary
At the beginning of 1967, Helen Reed met a young man on her spontaneous trip to a town off the coast of Boston: a small town named Cape Cod. It goes well as expected until she finds out she's pregnant at 16 years old and is miles away from her own parents. She struggles as she debates whether to become a mother or not.
Or, alternatively, let's meet Ash Lynx's mother.
