Summary
For the team, the consciousness transfer takes hours. For Rocky, however, it happens in an instant. One moment, he was in his hard carapace listening to the hustle and bustle of the lab around him. The next, he is in supple flesh with a myriad of new senses, each and every one of them overwhelming his brain.
Oh. He wasn't briefed on this. No one ever warned him of the sheer overstimulation that would come with a new body. In the span of one brief, terrifying second, Rocky was introduced to worlds he couldn't even fathom existing—bursts of sensation assaulting his mind.
Or: Rocky and Adrian test their human avatars for the first time, and deal with the ups and downs of having new bodies.

“Rocky, I’m here, okay? Come back to me, pal, please.”
Of course I will, I think, drawn to that voice, that strange, wobbling voice, which I care about without knowing exactly why, and I should – it makes me angry, not knowing – I should know –

Summary
“Um, hello.” Rocky lifts a hand slowly. The rock spider chitters and attempts to lift one back. But it’s tangled in wire, and the force that the alien uses to tug it free sends his body reeling backwards and thumping against the side of the tunnel. Rocky tries to keep a straight face.
“I’ll call you Grace,” he says. “Clearly you have plenty of it.”
...
Rocky wakes up in the Tau Ceti system, with his commander and science specialist dead. How's he supposed to save Earth?
Befriend the alien scientist he runs into, of course.

Summary
Softly, you admitted, "It reminds me of us, a little. Sometimes I wonder if our meeting was fate. If it was written in red, somewhere in the stars."
"Red," I repeated. "Like astrophage."
If our meeting was truly written in the red of astrophage, then it would mean that the stars started dying for us—that the entire galaxy mourned for them by singing a dirge, and it was loud enough to be heard in the vast silence of the Big Nothing.
Perhaps the universe was torn in two a long time ago and is trying to pull the broken halves back together. For everything comes from stardust, from planets and moons to humans and Eridians. For across trillions of miles' worth of space and billions of years' worth of time, we existed at just the right parameters to have met each other. Then, perhaps the universe made me to love you, and perhaps the universe made you to be loved.
Perhaps that is what you call fate.
Or: Grace confesses his love. Rocky struggles to do the same, though not for the reasons you might think.

• gradepaperstablets
• convince rocky not to pick twilight for movie night
• dust the shelves or rocky WILL start counting the individual dust particles on them
• biodome rain test soon!
• look for gastronomy research articlestell the biodome workers to tone the rain down a little. just a little. because they may or may not have struck the fear of god into you last night with the storm simulation they threw at you.
is it still platonic if you and your best friend cuddle while watching a romance movie and he scoffs at the couple on the screen and says they'll never have the bond you two have
never let rocky watch movies with love triangles because again. he'll just keep saying, "when in doubt, poly it out."
actually maybe we could do thatnope scratch that!Or: A glimpse into Ryland Grace's life on Erid, all through a series of sticky notes on his fridge.
