Summary
Except for the one time, Mom always did grab hold of Amy when she was sick or after she’d had a nightmare, held her and rocked her and said, You’re right here. You’re safe. You’re right here, Amy.
It’s not like she’s asking Frank to do that.

Summary
Frank Castle knows exactly what to expect from Spider-Man: bad jokes, worse timing, and a stubborn refusal to stay out of his way. He doesn’t know his name, his face, or anything about the man beneath the mask, and he prefers it that way.
But when the same investigation keeps throwing them together, irritation starts becoming familiarity, and Frank begins noticing things about the man behind the mask he was never supposed to care about. And, somehow, irritation starts looking dangerously close to something else.

Summary
Frank is on top of him, and he looks terrifying. Blood and pieces of something - no, someone - are smeared in his hair, and his eyes are too big, his pupils blown wide.
“Frank?” Peter’s voice cracks.
Frank blinks and the terror on his face is replaced with fury. “You little shit,” he sneers. “You take a hit for me again, and I’m going to beat your ass!”
...
Peter and Frank weren’t fast friends. No, this is a relationship years in the making.

Summary
The possibility of not recruiting Neil at all is never discussed.
It brings up a lot of questions, the protagonist thinks later that night, staring up at the ceiling. He will recruit Neil because he knows who Neil will become. It’s a stunted paradoxical little loop. How did it start?
The protagonist knows how it will end.
Unless…unless he walks away. Lying in the dark, wide awake, the protagonist is tempted.
(Can we change things, if we do it differently?)
But…
“What’s happened, happened,” the protagonist reminds himself.
Besides (selfish, selfish). He wants to see Neil again.Somewhere in between the end and the beginning, Neil and the protagonist manage to find a little time.
