Simon has no experience with omegas.
After the events on AT-5 he is found by singing rocks and thrown onto a planet with only one other human being - an omega man. The man and his scent tests Simon. His composure, his restraint. The man is dangerous to Simon in a way nothing else has ever been.Ryland is overjoyed to have another human on Erid. He just can't tell if the alpha is happy. Or if the alpha has emotions at all.
The two spend their time trying to understand one another and their place together, while struggling to hide their desires for the other.

Summary
Ryland Grace hasn't had a heat since well before the Project Hail Mary mission. He didn't think he needed to worry about having heats on Erid until he realized he was in preheat. While gathering supplies, his fellow biodome occupant, a skittish man named Simon that he and Rocky rescued on the way to Erid, offers to help him out. Grace is opposed to the idea until he realizes that Simon is also an omega. With the threat of spending his first heat in years alone, he agrees. Things only escalate from there.
