Summary
After making their tactical retreat from the Spire, Black Sapphire Cookie, Candy Apple Cookie, and Shadow Milk Cookie decide to lay low in the Crème Republic. There, Black Sapphire Cookie gets a cover job working for the fallen noblewoman, Light Cream Cookie; conveniently learning she’s the mother of the powerful Clotted Cream Cookie.
Once Black Sapphire makes this tidbit public, however, Light Cream Cookie goes missing, clearly due to foul play. Black Sapphire and Clotted Cream enter a mutually beneficial partnership to save Light Cream, restoring Shadow Milk to his former glory in exchange.
But the longer they work together, they not only become further entangled in the rotten core of the Republic, but with each other as well. Black Sapphire must ultimately make a choice between the familiarity of deceit under his master, or becoming the bringer of justice alongside his new "ally".

Black Sapphire chuckles at that, and responds with a coy smile of his own. “Maybe the monsters like playing with their food.”
when famed priest and vampire hunter, clotted cream arrives at a small village in the far reaches of crispia, what he expects is a simple mission—to eradicate the vampire coven that resides in the area.
then he meets a mysterious local by the name of black sapphire, and despite his better judgment, can’t help but be intrigued by the other man. and as clotted cream spends more time with him; with his teasing remarks and unusual debates; of words that tempt him and challenge his faith, the more confusing his feelings about him become.
and what should be a simple investigation, suddenly gets a whole lot more complicated.
