Summary
The silence made him think that Kendall wasn’t even listening to him. But when he squinted, trying to get his eyes accustomed to the darkness, he saw his eyebrows twitching. It was suddenly clear that he was suffering. He swallowed harshly and patiently waited for an answer.
He then felt Kendall tilt his face upwards, and he held him tighter in response. He was surprised, however, when their eyes met, to see his expression shift from one of suspicion to a sincere smile, “I’m okay, Stew. Really. It’s okay that I like drugs more than you… as long as you like money a bit more than me. Heads and tails, man. The same coin.”

Summary
“I was looking everywhere for you! I was almost scared that I was here all alone!” Satoru caresses his neck, almost too touchy, as if he’s trying to figure out if he’s real or not.
“Why are you here? You don’t belong here,” his voice is muffled by Satoru’s high school jacket.
“Why shouldn’t I be here?” Suguru can practically hear the kindness in Satoru’s voice: “You’re the only person I want to see.”

“I don’t think my brother could survive losing another kid,” he said quietly.
Maria frowned, “I didn’t realize it was that serious between them.”
He laughed, “Oh, that’s because you didn’t hear their very father-daughter shouting match that they had back in autumn.”

Summary
Nicolò should set up the rifle right now, make the shot, and be out of the country by lunchtime. He shouldn’t care that Joe’s eyes are a warm, deep brown, or that when he smiles the entire room lights up around him. Nico has killed beautiful people before, many of them, without blinking.
Instead he makes a monumentally stupid decision.
"My bad pickup line worked on you,” Joe says later at dinner. “I saw your sneer and I thought, oh, I must get that man to agree to a date with me.”
Nico snorts. “And despite my better judgement, here we are.”
“Oh,” Joe says, and over to touch Nico’s fingers. “I think your judgement was quite good, don’t you?”
Or: Nico has a job, and that job is Joe. He just can't for the life of him figure out why anyone would want an unassuming museum curator and art restorer dead.

Summary
When they met, Yusuf was a merchant trading across Europa, and Nicolò a priest turned warrior paying off a debt of honor in the Norse lands. Yusuf fell in love with Nicolò slowly - spending a week together each year before he was compelled to travel onwards and leave Nicolò behind.
Nicolò fell in love almost as soon as they met.
Now they are each other’s, crossing Europa side by side. Ahead of them is a journey of a thousand miles, and a lesson that loving a person up close is very different to loving them from afar.
