Young-One’s gaze darts between Mignon’s red eyes and the red on his lips. “You’re too young to feed from,” he says, and it sounds like he’s pleading.
“It’s okay,” Mignon murmurs, leaning in, and—
Young-One twists in his grasp, turning bodily away. “No, Mignon!”
He can’t. He’s already taken too much. He can’t take this, too. Not again. Mignon doesn’t taste candy-sweet anymore, now that his body has to scrub someone else’s blood instead of making its own, and Young-One hates himself and craves the dark chocolate taste of him in equal measure.
