There was an impromptu conference when all of Meng Yao's crimes (his many, many horrible crimes, crimes Lan Xichen didn't think possible for him to commit) came to light in front of the entire assembled gentry. (Well, the gentry except for him, given that Meng Yao had him held prisoner at the time.)
Or: Lan Xichen takes some good advice. It goes better than he ever expected.
