Summary
After wasting seven years in the Chamber of Sages, Link is desperate to make up for his lack of action and actually save the world he's come to love. He has no excuses to delay any further, and he's rushing to make the world right again.
However, once again, time gets in his way. Catapulted into the future (or past?) with people he's never met (but know him in the future- this is confusing), Link must travel with a group of heroes in hopes of returning back and finishing what he'd begun, not just for the sake of those in his past, but now those in the future apparently as well. Surely this won't be a big deal for him, right?

Grace thought he'd be used to the hunger by now, but if anything, it was getting worse. Intense cravings, cramps, and miserable mood swings battered him endlessly as his body sent more and more desperate pleas for him to find and eat some actual food.
It was his responsibility to get Rocky home. He couldn't risk being so sick that he couldn't pilot the ship. Grace flopped back in the pilot chair and looked over at the window in the side of the cockpit and found himself staring at the binary stars again. A bright blue-white dwarf and its dimmer red-gold mate, quietly dancing and switching sides every few days as they orbited their primary star together. The odd pair. The dancing couple.
As far as Grace knew, they were reflecting off the retinas of the only creature who could sense light within about 15 light years.

Summary
Ryland doesn't know where he is, what he's doing, or why he's doing it. All he knows is that he's in a universe with no stars and that an organization called the COI found the Hail Mary spinning out into deep space. He knows that Rocky may be injured somewhere, and he knows that the man that currently lays in a hospital bed in front of him should be dead as dirt but has miraculously survived.
He knows he has been given an ultimatum. Find out what brought Simon back to life or never see Rocky again.

Summary
The worst part about it, Simon thinks, is that when his skin starts to slough off, it’s replaced by a film of blood. And when that starts, the line of demarcation that separates what was strictly him and strictly other starts to fade. Even when his left arm detaches with an uneven rip and the voice in his head stops being his voice, he still hopes there’s a way to distill his real self from the sludge.
Simon subscribes to the idea that people get what they deserve as a consequence of their actions. Something along the lines of karma. It brings a sense of closure, and he’ll take closure where he can get it. With that, Simon submits himself to the notion he’s getting exactly what he deserves. This is how it’s going to end - with him blindly slinging an axe in a battle for unsatisfying gulps of metallic air, fumbling around the dark for a line that used to exist.
But he wakes up. And the first thing Simon’s traitorous brain thinks is that this man has the kindest eyes he’s ever seen.
