Summary
Dean’s life is on the road. Passing through different towns one week to the next, following his dad’s orders, flirting and scamming his way through every bar in the Midwest.
So when he decides to head to sunny California for his brother’s graduation, he’s not expecting his whole world to flip on its head.
But it does.
With his dad in the hospital and Sam back in the picture for the first time in four years, Dean finds himself living a life he never dreamed of: mundane work days, lazy afternoons with his brother, nights out with real, honest-to-god friends.
It’s not what Dean is used to—not even what he wants, really—but the more time that passes, the more he begins to wonder if he can really let it all go when the time comes.
After all, his life is on the road, and soon enough it’s gonna come calling again.

“Fuck, fuck, Cas, please wake up,” Dean prays aloud, humming in jagged little bursts as he leans his weight into each press against wet skin. Nine, ten, eleven, twelve, he counts. Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen goes by before he’s gripping Cas’s jaw and slotting their mouths together to administer two or three rescue breaths.
Cas sits up like nothing happened and tilts his head to the side in that way all angels seem to do when they don’t understand something.
“Dean,” he starts, and his tone is quizzical, a little cross, and utterly confused. “I don’t need to breathe.”

“Legs off the table.” Dean growls, hearing a dull thump, followed by an exaggerated sigh.
He snaps his eyes up, to see none other than Castiel; he’s the only one brave to do so and the first one to break every goddamn rule Dean set. He stretches his body, making himself comfortable, ignoring Dean’s request, or order. That doesn’t matter, Cas won’t listen to him anyway.
