Hades used hurt as an outlet. It gave him control and made him feel powerful. But now he's shaping up and suddenly he can't do that anymore. He needs something else, and quickly, because he's buried in just as much, if not, more stress than usual.
But he just can't hurt others for control. There was never anything about hurting himself.
