    Summary

‘“You can’t go alone Harry,” Hermione said, trying to lift herself to her feet but giving up with a squeak, “You need help!”
“No,” Harry said firmly, “This is my decision to run off to try and save Sirius, no one else’s - and you need help Hermione! Look at your ankle!”
“How are you even getting there?” Ron demanded, “'Cause if you want to floo, it looks like we both need to go back up to the castle,” he cried triumphantly.
The answer to his question came in the form of a sudden insistent tugging at the sleeve of Harry’s robe. He flinched back, and looked down to find the skeletal head of doe-eyed Thestral following the path of his hand in an attempt to lick off the blood that coated his arm. Harry froze for a minute, then grinned. He knew exactly how he was getting to London.’

    —

When Harry made the choice to leave his friends behind, and rescue Sirius from the Department of Mysteries on his own, he had never imagined what the consequences might be.

    Summary

In the 17th century, at the end of the Ming Dynasty, as the Manchus took over mainland China, the Ming loyalist warlord Koxinga drove the Dutch colonists out of the island of Formosa and set up a kingdom there for himself.

In an alternate omegaverse, among the things Koxinga seized from the Dutch was an omega young man to be a consort for his oldest alpha son, Tatpho, no matter what either of them thought about it... Tatpho quickly falls for his consort, but all Pieter wants is to go home.

You do want this, you just have to get used to being mine... My needy little fox. You’re mine… I’ll keep you happy and satisfied. You won’t think of anything but me.

(I made an offhand mention in my MLQC fanfic Queen's Choice(s) about Pieter, an omega ancestor of main character Lucien, and I started thinking about what I had read about the historical Koxinga, and the whole historical period, and I got consumed with this idea for an original, historical omegaverse. Underage warning: main characters are 17 and 18 by modern reckoning at the beginning of the story. Rape/non-con warning: forced marriage of a prisoner and an attempted sexual assault.)
