Summary
Armand is staring through the doors leading out to the parking lot. His beloved is standing there.
He closes his eyes, if he concentrates he can almost pick out the smell of the smoke coming out of Daniel's lungs. If he concentrates hard enough he can feel the shiver that ripples along Daniel's body.

“T-terminated?” Daniel parrots. “I’m terminated?”
Armand is hardly fazed by his confusion. “Yes. And I am, as you so eloquently put it, so soulless it makes you want to fuck roadkill.”
Four years as Armand’s personal assistant, gone in an instant thanks to Daniel’s big mouth. Now he can kiss goodbye to any reputable career beyond Armand’s errand boy. Daniel will do anything to get that job back. Armand just wants to look like something other than a total failure.
Lestat turns to him, lips curled in cruel laughter. “Five years? And you still play butler for the little demon? How sweet. His personal mini gremlin.”
Armand cuts in for Daniel, closing the distance between them. “Yes, Daniel is still my assistant, Lestat.” And suddenly they’re touching. Daniel nearly jumps at the sensation, head whipping around to see Armand’s face. “And also, he is my boyfriend.”

Summary
Armand grew up surrounded by death. Cold bodies, organs, limbs — drained of all blood. Marius was a renowned neurosurgeon with unusual proclivities and even more unusual appetites. Armand was never the type to sit at the dining table and partake in a dried piece of skin alongside his father, but he certainly shared his interest in fetish. Desire. He never had a true paramour. It was never the same when they were like this: warm to the touch, blood thrumming underneath their skin, wet lips, fluttering eyes.
Alive. It was never the same.

“I was thinking maybe I’d go with my girlfriend,” Daniel says.
Armand sucks in a breath, a familiar blend of excitement and fever rearing its head inside him. This isn’t new— nothing is, after nearly five centuries— but it’s certainly been a while. Louis doesn’t care what he looks like, what he is, just as long as he stays below him. On his knees in the endless confessional. Marius would dress him up sometimes: Helen of Troy, Cassandra, Mary Magdalene. When the painting was finished he’d push his skirts up and take him there in the studio.
