Summary
Rodney couldn’t remember now, exactly what he had been doing when he got himself cursed, though he had a strong suspicion that toadstools were involved, as they had danced in his dreams, in spiral curls and impossible patterns, on and off, ever since. What he did remember, was a flash of something like the brightest, most intense bolt of lightning he’d ever seen, before or since, which sunk into his heart and made him ever after terrified of storms; and eyes, wide and bright and too huge to be possible.

Summary
But this is John; and Rodney’s heart is thudding like a teenager and his breath is hitching and his brain is exploding with poetry, racing by in snatches, the couplets tangling eagerly together. He’ll never breathe a word of them later, not to anyone - not even to John - but he’ll remember them.
