Summary
Grace is so darn curious as to what their relationship is— because they clearly aren't just boss and subordinate. Not with the way they act around him, at least.
He doesn't know who he's more jealous of: Stratt, for being the object of Carl's devotion, or Carl, for being allowed to devote himself to her like that.
And he doesn't know what it means that they're like that around him, and no one else. Those moments of closeness are just for themselves, and apparently now, Grace.
Grace doesn't know what to make of any of that.

Summary
(Sequel to Ruin My Life)
Papers are contracts. Stratt signs hundreds every day. Their marriage certificate was not special in that regard; just a document to legally bind them together, as Ryland had wanted.
It wasn't what he wanted though. Or, it wasn't all of it. With every day that passed that Stratt seemed no more inclined to let him past her walls than before, he came to the sinking realization that she had little intention of actually being married.
—
Here are some things that make being married to Eva Stratt exceedingly difficult:- She wants for the world, but not herself; trying to do nice things for her is like pulling teeth
- She trusts Dr. Grace with the mission, but she does not trust Ryland with her heart
- And this really should not hurt so much, because it's Stratt, but— she cares about him the way she cares about a coworker; or the way she cares about every human in the damn universe. She does not care about Ryland. Attraction does not equal affection. And with every day she does not acknowledge their marriage, it becomes clearer that towards Ryland, she feels neither.

Summary
Someone sits next to him at the bar, which he pays no attention to. It just gets lost among everything else.
That is, until a smooth voice orders a glass of jenever, neat. He knows that voice; he once listened to it nearly every day.
He turns his head, and there in the dim lights is Eva Stratt.
(He'd wanted her years ago in a dull, back-of-his mind way, and he wants her now. He can't find a reason to resist her anymore.)

AU where they're ex-coworkers of a somewhat more normal variety, and after years of not seeing each other, they run into each other at a bar -

Summary
"Okay, new word: catharsis. It's like, getting rid of your negative feelings about something. There are a lot of ways humans can achieve it. One of them is by talking about them. 'Getting it off your chest,' is a common saying for it. It's like the sadness and anger get lighter once you express them."
"Rocky understand. Grace tell feelings to Eva Stratt, so Grace no longer upset about murder, question?"
"Yeah, basically."
