“Actually, Shidi, it was this shixiong’s idea.” Shen Qingqiu uncrosses his legs and sits a little straighter on his throne, which is far more ornate than Luo Binghe’s. The solemn dignity is marred a little by the pile of cushions spilling out from underneath his robes and the bag of melon seeds resting on the arm.

Summary
Yue Qingyuan - Xuan Su Sword, Sect Leader, Zhangmen-shixiong. Liu Qingge - Bai Zhan War God, Peak Lord, wielder of Cheng Luan. Two martial brothers who rose as Peak Lords, two powerful men with strong codes of honor and loyalty. One may think that because of these similarities, it would be a simple thing for them to admit their feelings for each other - should they have them, that is. One would be wrong.
The roles they play and the positions they hold - stalwart Sect Leader, loyal War God - are exactly what create barriers to what one may deem "effective and straightforward communication." It doens't help that Liu Qingge thinks that there is something off with Yue Qingyuan. Nothing sordid of course, but still a suspicion that occupies his thoughts.
Meanwhile, Yue Qingyuan has always found Liu Qingge to be a curious individual. He admires his shidi's at times single-minded ways and his straightforward nature. Surely if Liu Qingge had anything he ever needed to tell Yue Qingyuan, he would not hesitate to do so.
And neither of them would ever dream of acting in a way that would go against the propriety demanded by their respective positions. Not on purpose at least.
