The last straw for Mirabel is when she realized how little her efforts and energy was pushed away simply because she had no gift like her magical family. On the night of her youngest cousin's, Antonio, gift ceremony she ran away, left her family and community behind and escaped to the outskirts of Encanto where she discovered that there was more out in the world, in the galaxy than there was 50 years ago.

Summary

Prince Hydron isn't anything like Dan expects. He's spoiled, capricious, and prone to fits of hysteria, true - but there's something deeper there too, a pain that seems too genuine to ignore. Dan's capture leaves Shun in a whirlwind of regret, fear, anger. This entire thing is based off of one throw away line on page 143 of call of the crow where it says that Ellie screamed in pain without the mattica leaves. I don’t read too much into things, what are you talking about?!
When Ellie wakes up screaming at midnight, all Nox can do is poor the mattica down her throat and wish she had never followed him to the clouds.

Ellie wakes up screaming because her leg hurts, and Nox is the one who puts her back under with mattica.
