Rocky chitters then, moving as close as the xenonite barrier allows him in the cramped control room. “There is something moving in ship.”
Grace looks up, startled. “What?”
Rocky taps in a movement Grace can tell is keen concentration, his carapace leaning towards the intercom where Grace can only hear static, crackled feedback.
“Something moving in ship.” Rocky tap tap taps again, pauses. “Not human, statement.”
Grace blanches.

“Make me uncomfortable,” Jean repeats, and then smirks, his eyes never leaving Eren’s. Eren’s heart speeds up, and he feels heat rising to his face. It strikes him like one of those thunderstorms that would sometimes appear in late winter. He found Jean attractive. He liked how Jean stared at him, how he leered at him. This was bad. This was very bad.

“Always think,” Rocky shifted his ball closer, bumping into Grace’s shoulder. Grace bumped it back, lips quirking up. “Think, think, think. Human brain never shut off. What Grace think about, question?”
Grace went quiet for a moment and looked away. “Uh, my… ‘mate.’ Back on Earth. I remember I had one.”
A series of happy little squeaks and chirps erupted from Rocky, his claws waving in frantic little jazz hands. He must have been excited to realize Grace had someone waiting for him back at home. Grace still didn't have the heart to tell him the truth, and likely never would. He shakes the thought away and focuses, eyes half-lidded and flickering back toward Rocky. The display pulled a genuine smile from Grace, though he wasn’t sure there was anything happy about the man back on Earth who grabbed him like a dog.
________________Alternatively, Grace has a flashback and subsequent revelations about himself and the person he was dating back on Earth. It affects him more than he thought it would.

Ryland Grace wakes up underground, mind jumbled, surrounded by the bodies of his adventuring party. Alone and with his memories coming back to him slowly, he has no choice but to wander off into the darkness. Luckily for him he comes across a dragon, Rocky, who's also alone and in desperate need of company and help. Help with the exact thing that sent Ryland underground in the first place.
