Summary
The Invincible II needs to crash land somewhere, everything is failing. Mark had never planned for this, and it didn't fare well on his constant bragging about how well he built the ship. And the alarms were making Simon panic.
Grace never really expected to get more humans on Erid. He didn't mind being the only one anyways. He bonded better with Eridians than he ever would with other humans.
But when a massive ship crashes into the beach of his home, he reluctantly let those who survived live in the biodome. Which wasn't that many, but they are a rather strange assortment of people.

Grace had just begun to accept the fact that he was never going to see another human again, taking small comfort in the fact that he at least had Rocky - and because of that, he wasn't going to be entirely alone. That is, until they'd solved the astrophage problem and the Eridian went back to his own planet anyway. But, there was plenty of time before then, so he was resolved the enjoy every moment he had with his new friend as they drifted towards a destiny of hopefully saving the stars.
...So with that being said, could someone please explain to him why the moment he attempts to start making peace with the situation, a wormhole opens in the middle of his lab, and presents him with a similarly amnesic and eccentric yet incredibly talented engineer, who looks at him and Rocky like they're the coolest things since sliced bread???
