His head tilted once and his eyes darkened. Penelope swallowed and turned around. She took careful footsteps, not wanting to look suspicious as she passed by the many partygoers. The library doors opened as her delicate hands pushed on the solid wood and she quickly made her way to the back of the couch.

"Sure, baby," Colin said reflexively, initially confused by the alarmed eye-widening of his already freckling girlfriend. His cheeks burned, whispering a soft sorry as he looked around them to see if anyone was paying the pair any mind. Though it would come as a relief to Penelope, Colin was somewhat disappointed no one heard. She was his baby. It would do others good to know.

So he said nothing. Instead, he took the long way, stretching the moment just to share the same air with her. It calmed him, knowing she wasn't getting married today — that for now she was with him, in his car, and he was taking care of her. That way, he could let his mind drift and imagine that she was running away with him on her wedding day, with her beautiful veil on and his leather jacket wrapped around her.
The evidence that she almost belonged to another, but ended up choosing him.
or Colin picks Penelope up from her hen party and the fact she is wearing a veil fucks him up a bit.
