One year post-canon, Lydia is living comfortably (or as comfortably as she can) in her haunted home. Beetlejuice has put sincere effort into being a better... Whatever he is, and with some life-coaching by Delia and ground rules set by Charles he has become both a tolerable and entertaining housemate. Of course there are the usual pranks and mischief, but Lydia's grown quite close with the demon. They have plenty in common, after all. Things may not be perfect in the Deetz-Maitland household, but they certainly could be worse. Who couldn’t love her ghostly Second Parents and demonic Brother-Friend-Thing? There’s no reason for anything to change now.
Unfortunately, fate has other plans.
