“Yeah,” Cyno exhales, shoulders slumping in relief. Tighnari stares at him in disbelief. “Yeah, that’s– that’s Alhaitham.” Tighnari’s jaw drops.

“Do you mean it this time?” The waver in Meghill’s voice is a barely-there thing, concealed by years of practiced composure. Angert preens at the knowledge that only he can spot his chief’s weakness even while his self-loathing grows, knowing that he has caused it.
Angert lifts his head to meet Meghill’s honest gaze. He takes Meghill’s long braid in one hand and twirls it around his fingers, imaging it undone. He knows what Meghill looks like beneath him, white hair splayed in a halo around him while Angert rides him, while Angert holds him down by the horns and takes him apart.
“I just want to make you mine,” Meghill whispers. His hand comes up and cups Angert's face, thumb tracing the scales on his cheekbone. "I want this to be real."
“I know." Angert closes his eyes. “We will talk. I promise.”
It isn't the first time he's lied to Meghill, but at least it will be the last.
OR: Angert says goodbye to Meghill before his journey to Heaven's Reach.

Meghill's answer surprised them both, out of his mouth before it had passed any forethought checks, and Angert jolted in his hold, leaning back a little to look at him. "What?"
"Okay," Meghill repeated after a moment of thought. If that was what it took… Well. This was Angert. In truth? He'd be willing to do this much and more just to be forgiven.
