    Summary

She slowly, slowly shifts her head so she can look down, and sees Jax hugging her as tightly as they possibly can.

“...Jax…?” Ribbit slurs. They don’t respond or acknowledge Ribbit’s words other than hugging her harder.

It takes her a second to realise that Jax is shaking. No, she’s crying. Sobbing. At first, Ribbit assumes it’s because they’re hugging her, and she knows they don’t normally take well to hugs. But then, wait, why are they hugging her? They don’t normally let anyone hug them, not even Ribbit, let alone initiate a hug so why would -

Ribbit is hit by an amalgamation of incoherent memories and words and suddenly realises her arm feels like static. She looks down to see half her body is black. No eyes, no glitchiness, no textures, it’s just black, like someone deleted the texture pack on her body.

She vaguely remembers Jax being there, wherever she was. It was dark… and inky… and glitchy…

    Oh, right. She abstracted.

Jax saves Ribbit from abstraction. But the circus has changed, the people have changed, and Jax has changed. Ribbit has a lot to adjust to.

(Healing isn't linear, and Ribbit and Jax learn that in the worst way possible.)

    Summary

    YOU BETTER RUN

When Jax abstracted, he expected nothing beyond that. He expected a void to take him and to stop existing. He didn't expect to wake up in a suburban city. In the Macroverse. The real world. What's a suicidally depressed immortal cartoon rabbit supposed to do in a world that would hate and fear them? Survive long enough to become a better person. Maybe make amends. Perhaps even find her real self.

This is a story exploring various aspects of Jax's character that I find interesting and relatable, including: Self-Hatred, Self-Harm, Masking, Internalized Bigotry, Body Dysphoria, Running from consequences, Martyr complexes, Social Isolation, the kindness of the human spirit, and how people outside of societal norms are treated by those in power. And probably more.

Co-written by my close friend Daisy.

    Summary

Pomni arrives at the blanket fort later than usual only to find Jax, scarred in colorful eyes staring right back at her. Over a year later, Jax has managed to undo her own abstraction and has to rejoin the circus only to find it almost entirely changed. She must complete her journey of self actualization and make amends with those she has wronged while the rest of the circus has to come to terms with her return.

Yet another Jax De-Abstraction fic. Fair warning, the narration solely refers to Jax as a woman using She/Her, but until she comes out to the others, they will continue to refer to her with He/Him in dialogue. Also I love Caine so don't be surprised if there's a lot of him.

    ××A Post Episode 9 Post-Canon Fic××

Pomni has been grieving for the past few months, having almost abstracted with Jax. She now has to deal with the grief of losing him while he is back, in front of her, and none the wiser about how much she knows about him and about how he saw them.

The remaining members try to navigate life with the prospect that they are now here forever, creating barriers between themselves and their outside personalities. Caine tries to figure out how far he can push his new ability of 'raising the dead', still reeling from losing the powers Abel had provided and attempting to quell his own ego while catering to the members as promised.

    OR

Jax is de-abstracted and tries to be better (after a while).
