“You don’t need to threaten me.” He started, and Peter let out a little incredulous huff, near silent. “I’m already doing what you ask; the work will get done anyway, so it’s not like you need to make it so...uncomfortable.” He knew there was a sneer pulling up on his face, but he only half bothered to push it back. He took in a breath, pretending it was deep enough to feel real.
“Besides - we both know you’re not actually going to do anything anyway. That’s not exactly your brand. It’s just a waste of energy.”There was a long second as Peter just looked at him, stock still, eyes hard but sparkling a little. The tiny lift at the corners of his lips turned into a full smile, amused, dry.
“What makes you think I wouldn’t, Martin?”
