Happiness is only temporary...or at least, that seems to always be the asterisk attached to every aspect of Cloud Strife's life. After a year of peace and rebuilding with Tifa at the bar, the slow yet tempting flood of contentment leaves Cloud completely vulnerable when a couple stricken with grief swears to make him and Tifa pay for the destruction of Midgar. Though he hates to go back down that dark path, Cloud begins to wonder if he truly deserves anything at all. -

Summary
Cloud is in Midgar again. The city isn't destroyed, Shinra is still in charge, Tifa still runs the bar in the slums, and Zack is alive and kicking. None of it seems wrong at first, until he starts hearing voices in his head calling him out of his trance.
Tifa is on the outside, fighting her hardest to pull him back out.

Summary
Several months after the Geostigma crisis, life at the bar has been getting a lot better for everyone. Cloud is back and here to stay, to Tifa's relief, and the kids are getting along well under the guidance of their makeshift parents. While life improves, Tifa realizes just how little she and Cloud know their neighbors, and they both decide to invite them over for dinner.
Neither of them expected that they would also invite an array of questions aimed at their complicated relationship.

Summary
The story of FF7 if Zack lived.
Shortly after being ambushed outside of Midgar, Zack and Cloud were separated: Zack remained under Turk care, while Cloud - confused from mako poisoning - went missing somewhere on the streets of Midgar. Now Zack has to somehow find his best friend before Shinra and Hojo can, not to mention that he has to stay under the radar himself - but with the Turks keeping secrets from him, and with so many reminders of his previous four years of being a lab experiment, staying anonymous is becoming more and more difficult.
Meanwhile, Cloud has literally stumbled into Tifa's care. Given his mako-enhanced eyes, it doesn't take long for him to be recruited into Avalanche... but it's quickly becoming apparent that he's not the strong, sturdy SOLDIER that he'd like everyone to think. His memories are disjointed and his mind feels foggy, to the point that it becomes difficult to tell what's real and what's not. But Tifa needs him. He made a promise to her after all, and he intends to keep that promise... no matter what it takes.
