    Summary

After a construction accident leaves Kaveh with a serious head injury and no memory of his life. Recovery becomes a frustrating exercise in relearning things he once took for granted: Walking. Eating. Dressing himself. Remembering who he was.
Alhaitham is there to take care of him, with a stupid schedule, almost endless patience, and absolutely no intention of letting Kaveh alone (again)
But as Kaveh's memories return, he realizes that forgetting the past may have been easier than remembering it. Some things hurt to remember.

    or:
It takes a near death experience for them to finally speak about their fallout on their youth.

    Summary

Serving only to blind them to what really mattered: the sun, a summer stroll, a plate of fatteh or a simple falafel rather than viscous, bitter blood. A conversation with your best friend who you're convinced is the love of your life.

Was the love of your life. There was no life left for Kaveh anymore, and he'd spent his golden years thinking that was as unlucky as he would ever get. He had enough regrets to fill up the suitcase he'd brought from Snezhnaya — a life's worth of hypotheticals and logical fallacies. While grief gnawed at him as a teenager, as an old man, it now consumed him from the inside.

Or: the Withering that destroyed Kaveh’s magnum opus also pulled his life away, transforming him into a vampire. Seventy years later, he returns to Sumeru.
