    Beautifully written.
    I’m sobbing crying breaking down.

“…How happy we would have been, Erik. I can see so clearly what our old farm would look like – one of those quaint stone farmhouses in France. You know the kind I mean.

If only there could have been another version of you.”

    Summary

"My bed. It smells like you," Red says at last. "It... you were in it."

Fuck. Fuck, shit, damn it. He didn't think this would come back to him.

"Did we have sex?" Red muses, but his face shows no trace of the usual teasing, or the smirk Frank has gotten used to. It has... sadness to it, a tinge of longing and hurt and frustration, like he's not sure if he wants to remember it. Well, not that Frank can really blame him. Who would sleep with the fucking Punisher and actually be proud of it? "Do we still... are we fucking? How did that happen?"

(Or, Matt gets shot in the head, loses his memory and a little bit more than that. He doesn't remember what they were to each other, but somehow, Frank still becomes the anchor that keeps him from going under when the world starts to fall apart.)

"It's been almost... a year... and I can't remember... I can't even remember how I met him, how I ended up living with him, or if he just feels some kind of responsibility toward me now that my memories are... gone. But all I know is... I love him. So, future self, if you are listening to this... I hope you remember that you love that man with every goddamn fiber in your body. Don't treat him like shit, even if you don't remember how much you need him. Believe me, you need him more than the air you breathe, more than the water that fills your veins... more than anything else in the goddamn universe."

Just... wow. This was such a carefully crafted fic, and you can tell that intent and meaning was put in every single sentence. I loved this so much, and I will be re-reading this forever.

    Summary

Matt wonders, just for a second, if Frank would stop if he knew who was standing over him. If that recognition would change anything.

    He isn’t sure it would.

(Or: Matt and Frank cross paths earlier in their lives. Things get complicated. Obviously.)

    Summary

It’s been two years, but Matt still deals with the aftermath of Kandahar and everything that came before (and after). Including Frank leaving.
And Frank? He deals with the guilt. He brought pieces of himself back from Afghanistan but he’s quite sure Matthew never really left the sand.

They want you to love the whole damn world but you won't,
you want it all narrowed down to one fleshy man in the bath,

“Steve, selfish, had been greedy, and in recompense the world had taken away from him the things he’d been too overcome and desperate to appreciate, the things he’d been so much the fool to see as anything less than enough.”
