The myth of the lone wolf was in truth nothing more than a fairy tale, a creation of humanity that was as incurious as they were imaginative. They spoke life into a story of self reliance and resilience, unwilling or unable to comprehend that such a life was nothing but a death sentence to a wolf - mundane or magical by birth. Wolves lived and died by the pack. A packless wolf was a dead one, or as good as. To wander alone, untethered to a community or family, was the greatest shame of all. It painted you as unlovable. It painted you as untouchable.
It painted you as other.
