The war against All For One is finally over and Kirishima is reveling in all the time he now gets to spend with his mates. Reveling in it so much, in fact, that his body has started preparing for hatchlings. Insecure about the changes happening in his body, Kirishima tries (unsuccessfully) to hide from his mates. Bakugou and Tetsutetsu refuse to let their mate run from them and reassure Kirishima that they very much appreciate the changes and what they mean.

They’re going to be meeting up with Nik in a few hours, which is normally something he’s okay with. More than, really, and therein lies the problem. Because apparently he’s a open goddamned book to his teammates now that they’re regularly fucking him senseless and all it took was Price offhand mentioning Nik when he was wrist deep in his cunt for the truth of him being slightly obsessed with their Russian friend to out.
Can’t be blamed really, if you ask him. He didn’t ask for the man to wear pants that sagged with the weight of what he was hauling, or for him to shift so frequently in his pilot’s seat to settle its mass. It’s an idle curiosity he’s had for years that’s been stoked with the vicious reactivation of his sex drive by three idiots who wouldn’t know restraint if it bit them and at this point the only way out is through. All that to say that when the truth of the matter spread to the rest of the team they immediately latched onto it, mostly to drive him completely out of his fucking mind.

Summary
Soap does his research whenever he encounters something strange. By his best guess, with what little he knows of Simon's bloody and fraught history, and from observing Ghost, he thinks he's dealing with a doppelgänger. A manifestation of something darker, a little more alien, forged when on the very edge of death, half a soul lost to the afterlife while the rest remained to power its human body, doggedly forcing itself to survive.
Depending on the culture, doppelgängers are either a ghostly mimic, or a manifestation of a spiritual twin - able to share memories and feelings, but often bringing bad luck or representing the 'evil' side of the person it haunts. In some cultures, this spirit is not malicious, but more often than not they are frightening, and cause distress to the victim of their mimicry as well as those around them.
Personally, he doesn't think Ghost is inherently malicious. He doesn't go out of his way to cause Simon trouble, or behave in any way that feels out of character for Simon aside from his Otherness, which isn't something he can help. Animals sense oncoming rain, liminal spaces cause an instinctive crawl of fear beneath the bones, and Ghost unsettles people. That's just the facts of life.
