“No, leave the bacta.” Kleya sighs. “Who knows when we might really need it. It’s fine. It’s just a scratch.”
Vel lets the cabinet close with a soft thud and looks back over her shoulder. Red wisps of hair falling into her blue eyes.
“Would you let me take a look at it?”
Kleya stiffens. Instinctively.
But can’t think up an adequately scathing retort quickly enough—not before Vel’s crossed back over to her. And taken her injured hand in both of her own. And ever so gingerly drawn it closer for inspection.
She makes a soft, sympathetic tsking sound.
Kleya’s head is spinning.
“It’s pretty deep, Kleya.”
“So what? Would you recommend amputation?” Kleya scoffs, and is surprised when Vel’s half smirk and chuckle in return makes her heart—flutter. A little.
She tries to pull her hand away—or at least. She intends to pull her hand away. But somehow that command doesn’t quite make it from her brain to her muscles. Her hand remains perfectly clasped between Vel’s own. Inches away from her face.
“No amputation.” Vel says steadily. “Just. Sterile bandage and some extra special care.”After an injury, Kleya gets some of Vel's extra special care.

“I’ve loved you,” she says, “since I first learned the word love from a book.”
“Must’ve been quite late in life,” teases Ymir, playing with Historia’s necklace, tracing patterns with her fingers on her collarbone. “What, you never learned to read until you were 16.” She laughs, that loud and reckless and kind laugh that she reserves just for Historia. Ymir’s always loud, and often reckless, but kindness is something she can’t afford often. Only in the privacy of their castle, this one-bedroom cocoon with peeling sickly-yellow paint cracking off the walls. It’s beautiful, she thinks, because it’s theirs. No one can reach them here in their fortress.
“No, I’m serious,” says Historia. “I’m certain. I’ve always loved you.”
