the girl was laughing. though jinx couldn't hear it, she knew it was pretty- soft, maybe, but pretty. all teeth. the kind that said look at me, fall for me, don't you want to? and ekko was looking.
she could see the way his face was set. like he was trying, trying his hardest to feel something. the girl said something else with a gentle smile, batting thick lashes that jinx could see even from her post. his eyes weren’t guarded, weren’t annoyed or distant. there was effort in them.
she'd seen that face before. the face of a man forcing something that just didn't fit.
