“Your friends,” Yondu looks down at him, and looks, and Rocket shrinks. “You think they're worth less than a dozen batteries?"
Or, Rocket realizes he's a reckless jerk, tries to discreetly make up for it by working his ass off and ends up having to face his worst nightmare anyway (using his words)

“You get injured on the mission or something?” Rocket asked, his brow raising, “You’re an idiot for not saying something.”
“It’s nothing Rocket. Just leave,” Peter said, his voice cracking slightly in desperation.
Rocket frowned. “What’s going on with you?” Rocket questioned, moving to jump onto the bed next to Peter, “At least bandage it.”
Peter moved to pull away, but Rocket was faster. His small, quick fingers darting up to yank the fabric back.
They both froze.
Or; Peter has an old habit of self-harm which he's had for as long as he can remember and nobody has ever noticed. Until now, when one day, Rocket walks into his room at the wrong moment.
