Summary
For years, Thomas Perrault has treated figure skating like a puzzle he can solve alone.
Armed with old childhood lessons, YouTube videos, cheap skates, and a complete disregard for how difficult jumps are supposed to be, he spends his winters teaching himself triples—and attempting things on outdoor rinks that no sensible skater would try without a coach.
Then one particularly ugly fall catches Nicolas Nadeau’s attention.
Suddenly, Thomas has a real coach, proper training, programs, spins, judging protocols, and the deeply inconvenient discovery that figure skating has an entire competitive system he somehow never noticed. What begins as an experiment quickly becomes something much bigger as Thomas tears through his first competitive season, earns his way onto Team Québec and Team Canada, and discovers just how far his strange talent might take him.
From local rinks in Québec to international ice, Thomas has one season left as a junior—and absolutely no idea that the skating world is beginning to notice him.
