The whole public soulcry happens, and they all get their shit together, so Wik ends up bonded to another circle and Harry with an unacknowledged soulbond. And at first he doesn’t do anything respecting that Wikhn is bonded, but his soul bond never gets sealed, and after years of seeing how they treat him, he decides to at least try to do something. After all, it is better to try and fail than not try at all.
