Summary
It’s the year 2018. Fanny packs and leopard print are all the rage, and new music is getting released, some of which is undeserving of the light of day.
NICO DI ANGELO is actually feeling somewhat okay. His band, The Bejeweled Skulls, is slowly gaining more fans through word of mouth and chronically online teenagers on TikTok, and he really couldn’t wish for more.
WILL SOLACE feels like he’s on top of the world. The strange little musical project he created with his two greatest friends in college is spiraling into something bigger— they’re pretty much a real band at this point! He couldn’t be happier.
That is, until the Internet has a singular, shared thought. “What if we made these two incredibly different bands collaborate? That would be cool, right?”
While dodging weirdly parasocial fans and the Internet’s obsession with trying to make something happen between them, Nico and Will are going to have to figure some stuff out. Probably. Definitely.
A story told through social media, text messages, and human interaction.

He was moving, alone, into the house that he’d put a down payment on a month ago after Drew declared it her favorite of all the houses they’d toured, and he was writing a song.
He was unpacking and dusting off his old guitar, painted bright yellow and covered in the souvenir stickers his mom had brought him from every city she’d visited on her first tour, and he was writing song after song after song.

Nico has had nightmares all his life. Nightmares of his family getting hurt. Nightmares of himself getting hurt. Of people running away. Of people dying. But he was always able to tell people about them. He was always able to get comfort.
Until his life turned into an actual nightmare.
He tried to tell someone. He tried to get his uncle put in prison for what he did, but he can't, and now his mother is dead, and his sister killed herself, and his father killed himself, and he's being put into foster care in Gotham city of all places, and his only hope of not doing that is to live with his distant family, who he'd never heard of before now.
Traumatized, done with everything, and ready to run away, Nico joins the Waynes at the Manor.
His whole family is gone.
He isn't ready to deal with more.

Nico knew he was dead from the beginning. The attempt of survival wasn’t for the sake of bathing in riches and glory, rather for the need to survive. One thing kept him going, one thing kept him trying—his mother. Nico still wanted to go home to her. He was all she had left.
Will knew he was dead from the beginning, but he fought for his family. They needed him to win, needed him to come home. Winning meant surviving, and surviving meant being rich. With the money, he could feed them and their mother. That was all that mattered.
Somewhere in between, was them and their mess.
OR
Nico and Will have to fight in the 4th Quarter Quell. They both want to go home, but their complicated history made it harder to fight their way out.
