Things… change.
Ghost supposes that many would probably say that they get better. They do get better, don’t they? Yes, they do. Things change, and they are better. The Infection is gone, and Hollow is safe, and Hornet is happy, and so Ghost is fine. Perhaps they are selfish, and they mourn a dying world that they can never return to, and they are more alone than ever before, but they’ll get over it.
…And it’s not as if anyone will notice if they don’t.
Ghost goes back in time, kills the Radiance, and sets everything right. They tell no one, and do it on their own. It is only after their family is happy, and the kingdom is safe, and the Abyss is soothed to sleep, that they realize just how lonely it is as the last remaining piece of a future never to be.

Summary
Original title because I think it's funny: I said I wouldn't do this but GOD am I weak
When the Knight is about to fight the Radiance inside the Hollow Knight's mind, they feel pulled from their siblings dream and into someone else's. The Godseeker had felt our favourite little bug's opponent and did what she could to ensure she wouldn't miss the battle. This intervention saves both Knights' physical forms from being torn apart during the battle.
A weird AU I somehow came up with where Godseeker intervenes in the original Radiance battle and somehow conveniently saves the vessels from destroying their physical bodies in the process. Also Hornet wakes up before the battle is over and immediately leaves her siblings to go sulk somewhere

Summary
The Radiance has been defeated and the infection has started to die down. Bugs began to make their ways towards Hallownest, others recovering from the orange rot that took over their minds beforehand. It seems to be time to make a home, to finally live after the ugly dream that everyone was thrown into for the past decades. Ghost tries to fit into this world but sometimes even if you give it your own, you cannot recover from the past.
A self indulgent fic focusing on Ghost and their struggle with fitting into society post radiance, trying and mostly failing at it.

A few things to clarify:
The characters are not mine; they belong to Jhonen Vasquez.
-This is a story about what might have tentatively happened in the series had it continued. It does not include events from the comic or the movie "Enter the Florpus," but only those from the aired episodes and scripts of the unaired episodes. However, since the comic "Zimvoid" confirmed that the Zimverse is real, perhaps this could have happened in a parallel reality.
-I try to stick to the canon as much as possible, so there is no ZADR or weird shipping. That's right, NO ZADR. Not even a little. Sorry.
-The story is complete, but it is only the first part. The second part would be "Invader Dib," which I have not yet written.
-This style of narration was challenging for me because the story is more visual than emotional. Perhaps when I manage to follow my own thread in this style, I can polish it, but for now, I wanted to publish.Series
