It’s late, already well past closing time for the small hotel bar. Samatoki sits alone, outside on the otherwise vacant terrace. Ichiro knows he shouldn’t disturb the man, not when he knows how Samatoki would prefer to be left alone with his thoughts - especially after losing to Matenrou earlier that day. But Ichiro can’t stop his feet from moving forward. He eyes a wad of cash left sitting on the bar’s wooden counter, and the suspicious gap in a row of liquor bottles that lay behind it. Ichiro weaves his way through overturned chairs on tables until he’s reached the glass door to the terrace. With his hand stalls on the door, he considers turning around, just making his way back to his hotel room instead, forgetting he ever saw Samatoki tonight...
