Summary
Sharp moonlight slants in through the tall window that dominates one wall, casting an intense gleam upon blood red strands, grown longer than Garling had realized. The ends curl ever so slightly where they feather along Shamrock’s shoulders. He’s lying on his front, face turned away, blankets pulled high, so all Garling can see is- her hair.
His feet take him to the edge of Shamrock’s bed. His hand reaches out, stretching, to brush bare fingers against those soft waves. But something triggers a stir from the boy, causing him to yawn and roll over, towards Garling, and the brief spell is ruined.
He departs the room faster than he entered.

“Oh, it is you,” Priscylla says, taking a few careful steps closer. “Don’t suppose you remember me, do you sweetheart?”
He frowns, wary. Shakes his head. “Don’t- just stay, stay back-”
“It’s okay, I’m a friend, I promise. At least, I think I’m a friend; Roger and I had fun, sharing stories over drinks, and-” She lets her face crumple, just a bit. “I’m so sorry, sweetheart.” That does it. His expression wobbles, grief overwhelming everything else, and the fingers that grabbed for his sword go slack. Priscylla works her way closer, until she crouches next to him, offers a hand to shake. “You’ll have to remind me of your name, I’m afraid, but I’m Priscylla, Perfume Priscylla.”
A deep sniff that does nothing for the snot already running down his face. “Sh- Shanks.”

Doflamingo takes two days to make certain everything is Just So, and at the same time allows dear Law just a bit of respite, some peace and quiet down in a dark dungeon cell to recover from his injuries, build back up a bit of strength.
He’ll need it, after all.
(Just a little canon-divergent AU where Law tried to pull off his plans on Dressrosa without the Straw Hats, and it ended- well. Badly. But he’s still alive, and that means there’s an opportunity for Doflamingo to make a few things Perfectly Clear to his new Corazon about how matters will go from now on...)

“Typical,” the other snorted, standing over them. “Just another loony wandering where they shouldn’t.”
“I dunno, might just be the cold that has her out of it.” A note of something wrong crept into the officer’s voice, and Kristen felt more than saw his fingers move to nudge back the hood of her coat. “Kinda pretty, don’t you think?”

Ryan kept his gaze on the computer monitor, even though it only displayed a blank report form. Across the small front room of the sheriff’s office, his deputy huffed, continuing to escort the town’s newest law-breaker through the rear door to their pair of holding cells. Further frantic protests turned muffled, and when the door swung shut Ryan couldn’t hear anything else at all.
One side of his mouth curled up in a smirk.
