A face that Giyū hasn’t seen in eight years looks down at him and twists itself into an expression that Giyū’s never seen before.
“I won’t ask twice,” Sabito says. “What kind of demon are you?”
“Sabito?” Giyū asks. His voice is barely louder than a whisper.
(Or: Giyū gets sent to a timeline where he's dead and Sabito's alive. It's not what he expected.)

Shane and Ilya play for the same team. Shane and Ilya start hooking up. Shane and Ilya start falling in love.
Except... they each think the other has had a girlfriend this whole time.
It would be a lot simpler if either of them could actually communicate.

Summary
Frederick's last moments—his last true moments as the boy he was before he is gone—are spent remembering. In his mind's eye, he sees birds—California Partridges, Common Gannets, Frigate Pelicans. More flood his vision—Kentucky warblers, scarlet tanagers, yellow-crowned herons. A gray wagtail, a hooded crow. A dove, symbolizing love and peace, flutters towards him.
He thinks about his family. Will they be disappointed? Will he have failed them? He knew this was what he had to do; they needed him, he had had no choice. But...did that even matter now? Frederick thinks of Mother, Father, Fanni.
Mostly, he thinks of Werner.
---------------
As Frederick sustains injury after injury, from which he will never fully recover, his life flashes before his eyes and he reflects on his relationship with Werner.Bookmarked by ThatWillowTree

Can’t believe there are actually others out there who thought the same thing as me. This is fantastic.
