Once he heard the ding and the doors opened, he didn’t even look at the people already standing inside, too on edge to get outside. Just as he was about to press the button to the ground floor though, a toy car collided with his shoe. Before he could reach down for it, a tiny hand appeared between his feet, followed by a small head, the sight of which made his breath catch in his throat.
“Anthony,” the combination of the mention of his name and the peculiar voice saying it, made his hand slip from the button panel and press a few too many.
OR
When going back to the 70s, Tony and Steve go to 1973, a time when Tony is already 3 years old. There, he runs into them instead of Howard.

"Why are there chicken nuggets all over the grass?” Completely caught off guard by her question, he blinks a few times, trying to recall if he’s heard her question right, before a small hand tugs at his shirt, making him lean down so Morgan can whisper in his ear.
“I planted chicken nugget trees.” Moving his head away and looking at her with one raised eyebrow, he nods slowly, impressed. Turning to Pepper one more time, he clears his throat.
“She planted chicken nugget trees.”

“And why do you think she did that, huh?” Tommy’s face is turning red, and the only reason he’s not yelling is because somewhere in the back of his mind, he knows there are a lot of people on the lower level of the house. “Don’t you think that if she had the certainty that she could talk to you about this stuff, she would? Goddamn it, Joel. Just talk to the kid. You’ve had this before, you still do. But she hasn’t-”
“This? What the fuck are you-”
“A family, Joel.” The younger man stops and takes a deep breath. “A fucking family, asshole.”

“Yeah, I reckon I did.” He whispers the same way, a grin expanding over his face as she laughs openly.
“You didn’t- You didn’t have to do that.” Shrugging, he leans over the counter.
“You told me once you’ve never had a cake. So what better time to try it out than your birthday, huh?” She stares up at him as if he’s given her the greatest gift of her life and his heart expands.
