    Three figure skaters, two hockey players, one assistant coach, one registered nurse and one NBC correspondent are meant to be at the Olympic village. They are basically at work after all. Add in countless parental figures and siblings and the 2038 Winter Olympics become a family reunion for the extended Hollander-Pike-Smith family.

    Over the course of a week, medals will be won, secrets will be spilled and joy will be found.

    This is a sequel featuring the characters in "Amber Pike Has Three Dads" probably should read that first.

    I really just like writing happy comfy family fics and I am throwing queer joy around like glitter. Enjoy!

    In 2022, Ilya wakes up in a hospital in Ottawa with no memory of how he got there. He has hazy recollections of 2015, but he can't remember anything about the past seven years. He is shocked to learn he is now married to Shane Hollander, a fact that forces him to reconcile the decisions of his past self with the expectations he inherited from his father.

    “I have this for you.” Hollander reached into his pocket, pulling out something gold, glinting under the cold hospital lighting. Holding his fist out, Hollander unfurled his hand, and the bottom fell out of Ilya’s heart, cratering through his stomach and spilling onto the floor.

    Shane Hollander stood before him, palm outstretched, cradling Irina Rozanova’s golden crucifix.

    Ilya flinched back, like he had been burned. Hollander’s warmth had moved too close, too fast, morphing into a threat and a violation. Hollander should not have that cross.

    “Oh shit.”

    Shane looked up, turned his head to where J.J. was sat across the aisle. The blue glow of his phone lit up the too-wide whites of his eyes staring down intently at whatever was on his screen. Shane’s stomach lurched again, anticipating a sudden stop his body hadn’t quite caught up to yet.

    “The Centaurs’ plane crashed in Tampa.”

    There was a moment where everything was still moving, where Shane and the world were still spinning at the same speed they both always had, and then it all came crashing down. Shane wasn’t sure whether it was him that had stopped, or the world around him, but either way, in a matter of seconds the distance between himself and the bus he had only a moment ago been sitting in became staggeringly, dizzyingly vast.

     

    The Centaur's emergency landing plays out a little bit worse, and Shane is left with the harsh reality of the cost of loving Ilya in secret.

    Or: Shane ends up dating Rose’s co-star rather than her, and soon finds himself in an abusive relationship. Ilya and Shane's friends need to put aside their differences in order to keep him safe.
