Summary
A canon rewrite and somewhat alternate universe.
Sheppard has all three backgrounds and has an actual life and history before the games start. The most important thing is that this Shepard is a bit more politically intelligent and has more allies.
There will be a lot of changes even in ME1 but you won't see the effect of a lot of those changes until ME2 and on. Shepard is different and incredibly smart. She is practically the embodiment of what Spectres are supposed to be. Both good and bad.

Summary
Commander Shepard didn't grow up dreaming of the stars. She grew up in the lower wards of New York, learning that survival means never letting anyone get close enough to hurt. The Alliance gave her a purpose, missions, rank—forged her into a weapon. It was enough, until Saren, until the hunt for a rogue Spectre pulled her into an alliance with an asari archaeologist who refused to be pushed away and breached her walls.
This is the story of the woman behind the legend: a street kid who became a soldier, a soldier who became a symbol, and the slow, unwilling process of learning that letting someone in doesn't have to mean losing them. Follows the events of Mass Effect 1, with original characters, deepened backstory, and a few sharp edges of its own.
Content Note: This story deals throughout with trauma, grief, survivor’s guilt, and loss.

Summary
Not even legends live forever.
Liara had known for months. Had known, in the way that a person who has loved someone for the entirety of a lifetime knows the shape of what is coming, that this was the end.
Shepard knew it, and Liara knew it, and neither of them said it aloud because saying it aloud would make it real, and real was coming fast enough on its own.
