“Georgie,” she whispered. He crouched down by her chair and took her hands in his. They were cool, small and fragile in his. He had loved her almost his entire life. His heart had been pounding in his chest, he’d hardly heard the pastor’s words over the swishing of blood circulating through his ears, and to this day, it was the happiest moments of his entire life. His eyes darted back and forth between hers.
His chest ached knowing it wouldn’t be enough to make him stop.
