Shen-chengzhu rose from the daybed, his fine robes loose and rumpled, and made his way towards the line of boys. He did not touch nor prod them; instead, he leaned over and took a sniff.
Luo Binghe could scarcely believe his eyes or ears. The man was the spitting image of Shizun.
He came to a stop in front of Luo Binghe and leaned in, breathing deeply. He lingered longer than he had with the others, taking another deep breath before he pulled away.
"Is there anyone that Shen-chengzhu prefers?" Madame Meiyin asked.
Shizun's lips spread into a smug grin. "I need a second opinion."
Behind him, the door slid open. Shizun's whole face softened. "Here he is. A-Jiu! Come see."
Footsteps glided behind Luo Binghe; a moment later, another figure in matching robes stepped into view.
It was Shizun. A second man wearing Shen Qingqiu's face!
