Summary
“Your friends are all very accomplished spellcasters, bending the very fabric of reality to their will. It must be difficult to be among them without the same gifts…” Beau bristles a bit at that, and Avantika continues, “I know it was for me before I met my…benefactor.” Beau relaxes slightly. “And I know I found talent in other places to make up for it.” Avantika holds eye contact, waiting one second, two, three… Beau’s cheeks color slightly as she seems to take in Avantika’s meaning.
Beau licks her lips, seemingly steeling herself. Her chin lifts as she says “I have a lot of talents you haven’t gotten to see yet. Care for a demonstration?”
Avantika pretends to consider, looking Beau up and down again much more lasciviously. Her eyes snap back to Beau’s and she commands, “Take off your clothes. Kneel at my feet.”

He needed to do something about Grantaire. He could always ask him out, but dating was to get to know someone. He knew Grantaire.
"No," he later mused to himself, fingering the ring in his pocket, "this is a much better idea."

Summary
As Bilbo sat smoking in his empty hobbit hole, he couldn’t help but wonder – when did his life become so boring? Or better yet – when did his old life stop being enough?
He suspected the answer to that question lay somewhere around the time when he had refused Thorin Oakenshield’s offer of marriage.

Balin blinks, shifting backwards. “Laddie, it’s—it’s been a year. Bilbo has returned home, to the Shire.” He looks at Thorin, then says more gently, “I did not realize you counted the hobbit among your treasures.”

Summary
“Thorin Oakenshield,” Bilbo says, breathless. “I am dead, then.”
“Aye, Master Baggins,” Thorin agrees. His face is calm and patient, more regal now that it had ever been with a crown above it. The fires that had once burned in his heart, fueling his prides and passions, his stubbornness and steadfastness, still blaze in his voice. “You are dead.”

There are things that didn't get said when they should have been. Bilbo's been waiting a lifetime to say them.
