Summary
Harry has just finished his second year of Hogwarts and has come home. But suddenly Severus Snape is knocking at the Dursleys door saying that Harry needs to be taken away to be under strict supervision because Sirius black as escaped and is after him. Harry is now under the care of Severus for the summer until Sirius is caught. But Snape soon seems to realize that this child needs to be protected in more ways than one.

"Humans are so pitiful," Douma lamented, dangling yet another luxurious offering in his long thin fingers. Toying with the hauntingly expensive pearls until they were crushed underneath his superior strength. "They live and die like the common worm, yet convince themselves that their lives have meaning."
"Isn't that silly?"
Inosuke, being a mere two years old and incapable of saying more than 'Douma', 'milk' and 'dada', just stared as he continued his tirade. Giggling as he watched the demon grind the pretty necklace into fine dust, before lifting his palm to smear it into the pile of broken prayers and disrespect.
"Ah-ah-ah, Inosuke"- Douma grinned, not bothering to contain his bark of laughter at the toddler's angry pout - "Wouldn't want to get filthy, would we, my little flower?"
Inosuke could only stick his tongue out in response.

Douma lived his life thinking he was incapable of having emotions. Yet what if instead of being unable to feel emotions, they were simply suppressed due to his traumatic lifestyle? What if something, or someone, could allow these emotions to come to light?

Summary
"Fate has brought forth a miracle!" Douma declares to the audience. The harsh light from the lanterns reflects off the demon, casting him in a soft ethereal-like glow as he speak and Inosuke winces in the light. The audience's eyes seem to glisten and glaze as they look up to see Inosuke.
"After many years of waiting," continues the Uppermoon, "This boy has defied the wretched forces of the universe and returned home!"
When rumours of Uppermoon 2 reaches the corps, Shinobu takes on the mission to shadow the village and gain more information about the supposed demon. She decides to go undercover in Douma's cult alongside Giyuu, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. In the process, Inosuke gains an unexpected parental figure as his past is further uncovered. As the days go by, Inosuke keeps trying to work out his feelings towards Zenitsu and Shinobu's emotional state only gets more conflicted the more they get entangled with the cult.
The story takes place after the Mugen train arc and contains spoilers for the infinity castle arc. Tags will be updated as the story continues. I have nothing going on right now so I can have a consistent-ish uploading schedule. I'll try to post once a week :D.

He hopes that day never happens.
Inosuke smiles and nods eagerly. Douma sets him down and kneels for a moment more. His arms spread out, his finger beckoning him.
Inosuke is quick to give him a hearty hug that he feverishly returns.
“Be good for your mother okay?” He feels his son nod and he lets him go.
He should have held longer.
