He remembered the first time he climbed through his window covered in blood and bruises in the middle of the night. Mouth tasting like copper, lip busted. As soon as he made it through the window, he tugged off his mask, breathing in the air.
When Frank found him, he stilled, jaw clenched, ready to tear him a new one, but instead went and grabbed the first aid kit. He dragged Peter to the bathroom and sat him on the counter.
Frank called him stupid. Reckless and selfish. His fingers squeezed too tight around Peter's wrists.
Peter didn't pull away. Frank's hands were always stained with blood, but Peter reached for them anyway. Those very hands were touching him now. Digging into his skin.
