His children catch his eye next, they all look very thin, their thick mutated bones jut out slightly, giving the arms a thickness normal for human children but worrying with how small their normally huge wrists are.
He had left his children, his babies, alone by themselves for months. No adults, no help, no food and no loving caretaker.
How many nights have they spent hungry? They must be down to just eating algae and worms for every meal, which was plentiful this time of year but not exactly good. How far did they venture into the tunnels, all alone with nothing but each other in the pitch black?

Summary
Raphael has never been a forgiving turtle. He knows it, his brothers know it. April and Casey know it. In his defence, it's well earned. He protects his brothers and his human friends, he protects himself.
Splinter wasn't always an attentive parent and Raphael hasn't forgiven or forgotten it, even if his brothers seemingly have.
